how to wrap a planar wire on a cylinder?

I am working on modeling cylinder tubes, and the following two problems are waiting for solved:
I. Unfold the wire which is on the tube surface to a planar surface.
II. Wrap a planar wire on tube.

I have read On sheet metal unfolding, and solved I. Now i have no idea how to solve II.

Appreciated for any idea to solve II.

One pretty straightforward technique would be to define your contour in the UV space of a cylinder and then map it back to 3D. I think you can check how a similar sort of mapping is done in ShapeHealing component of OpenCascade, e.g. FixAddCurve3d of ShapeFix_Edge.
